Apart from the regular Hajj return, as many as 8,579 pilgrims and special Hajj officers were also reported to have returned to Indonesia as of Saturday, June 6 2026.

Ministry of Haj Affirms Prohibition on Carrying Zamzam Water in Suitcases

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has again reminded all Hajj pilgrims not to put Zamzam water in their luggage or cabin suitcases during the return process.

This appeal was conveyed to maintain the smoothness of flight services and speed up the security check process at the departure airport from Saudi Arabia.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Haj, Maria Assegaf, said that her party understands that there are still a number of adjustments to flight schedules during the peak repatriation period.

According to him, some flights experienced delays, requiring intensive coordination between various parties involved in the congregation’s return service.

The Ministry of Haj together with the Saudi Arabian authorities, airlines and field officers continue to take various accelerated steps so that repatriation runs better.

Maria apologized to the congregation and families for the inconvenience caused by schedule adjustments and flight delays.

He explained that various efforts continue to be made so that the repatriation process can be safe, comfortable and efficient for all Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims.

In the midst of this process, the Ministry of Haj again reminded the importance of complying with the luggage rules that apply during repatriation from Saudi Arabia.

The prohibition on carrying Zamzam water in suitcases is one of the provisions that continues to be socialized to all congregants ahead of their return to Indonesia.

Maria emphasized that Zamzam water cannot be put in cabin suitcases or checked luggage during the return journey.

According to him, Air Zamzam’s findings during a security check could result in the suitcase having to be opened and checked again by officers.

This condition has the potential to slow down baggage distribution and disrupt the smooth service of other pilgrims on the same flight.

As a result, the luggage handling process at the airport can take longer than normal conditions without any violation of baggage provisions.

The Ministry of Haj considers compliance with these regulations to be an important part in supporting the overall smoothness of the repatriation process.

The government hopes that all congregations can follow the provisions that have been set for mutual comfort during the return period.

Maria said that her party understands the Hajj Pilgrims’ desire to bring Zamzam water directly from Saudi Arabia to Indonesia.

However, the government has prepared an official mechanism for distributing Zamzam water to all pilgrims who have completed the Hajj pilgrimage.

Each Indonesian Hajj pilgrim will receive one gallon of Zamzam water containing five liters upon arrival at their respective debarkation in Indonesia.

With this official distribution, pilgrims no longer need to put Zamzam water in their suitcases during their journey home.

Second Wave of Hajj Pilgrims Prepares to Move to Medina

Apart from the repatriation process, other stages of the Hajj pilgrimage are also still ongoing for pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

Starting Sunday, June 7 2026, the second wave of Hajj pilgrims is scheduled to move from Makkah to Medina as part of the final stages of the Hajj.

This movement is a continuation of the series after the entire peak procession of the Hajj pilgrimage has been completed by the congregation.

The Ministry of Haj appealed to all congregants to prepare themselves well before participating in the mobilization from Makkah to Medina.

Congregants are also asked not to bring excessive luggage so that the transfer and service process can run more smoothly.

According to the Ministry of Haj, discipline in following officers’ directions will help speed up all ongoing service stages.

Apart from that, health conditions are also an important concern during the travel process and before returning to Indonesia.

Maria invited all Hajj pilgrims to maintain their health and help each other during the pilgrimage until the entire series of services had been completed.

He hopes that all Hajj pilgrims can return to Indonesia safely after following all the scheduled stages of the journey.

At the end of the Hajj operational period, the Ministry of Hajj again reminded that the regulations regarding Zamzam water must be obeyed to support the smooth return of Hajj pilgrims.

With the return of 75 groups of Hajj pilgrims, compliance with the ban on carrying Zamzam water in suitcases is expected to help services run more orderly and efficiently.***
