Hong Kong Celebrates 29 Years of Return to China, Free Transportation and Massive Discounts Prepared

BUTOLPOST – The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government is preparing various interesting programs and promotions to welcome the 29th anniversary of the territory’s return to China on July 1 2026.

Various activities involving the government and community sectors include free transportation services, entry to a number of tourist destinations and museums, and discounts at thousands of restaurants and shopping centers.

In the transportation sector, all tram services in Hong Kong will be free for the public for three days, from July 1 to 3. In addition, fast train operator MTR will give away 71,000 one-way tickets through a lucky draw program on July 1 as well as offering special discounts for Airport Express services.

Ferry services on certain routes will also be provided free of charge to the public on this anniversary.

Not only that, residents and tourists can also enjoy various cultural and recreational facilities at no cost. The Hong Kong Recreation and Cultural Services Department will open free access to a number of paid recreation and cultural facilities on July 1.

Hong Kong Wetland Park also provides free entry. Meanwhile, the M+ Museum and the Hong Kong Palace Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District also opened a number of exhibitions to visitors free of charge.

In the culinary and consumption sector, more than 1,000 restaurants and business actors are expected to offer special discounts on July 1, so that people can enjoy the celebratory atmosphere with various attractive promotions.

The commemorative excitement will also be enlivened by a special horse racing event held by the Hong Kong Jockey Club at Sha Tin Racecourse. A number of popular tourist destinations such as Peak Tram, Ngong Ping 360, Ocean Park Hong Kong, and Tai Kwun also offer various ticket promotions for visitors.
