PAPUA PORTAL – The governments of Indonesia and the Republic of Korea have agreed on strategic cooperation in the digital sector which is focused on improving the quality of public services, strengthening data security, and developing artificial intelligence (AI) talent.
This agreement was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Communications and Digital and the Ministry of Science and Information Technology and Communications of the Republic of Korea.
Minister of Communications and Digital, Meutya Hafid, stated that this collaboration is aimed at providing a direct impact that can be felt by the community.
“Through this collaboration, the government is targeting improving the quality of digital networks, including the development of the next generation of communications technology. People will experience more stable internet connections for schools, health services and business activities,” he stressed after signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Communications and Digital and the Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea in Seoul, Republic of Korea, Wednesday (1/4/2026).
On the public protection side, cooperation includes strengthening digital space monitoring and data security.
The public will receive stronger protection from data leaks and misuse of information.
This collaboration also includes a digital literacy program to improve people’s ability to use technology safely and productively.
Meutya Hafid emphasized that this collaboration is focused on real benefits for society.
“We want people to experience the results directly. The internet must be more stable for studying and working. Personal data must be more secure. Public services must be easier to access,” he said.
