Sabriya Shamasneh (68), an elderly woman who was known as a calm figure in her community, died after suffering a brutal beating allegedly carried out by Israeli soldiers during an operation in early April 2026. Her old body, which should have been protected, became the target of violence that shook the conscience of many parties.

According to the Middle East Eye report (7/4/2026), Sabriya suffered a series of blows which caused serious injuries. He couldn’t survive. In the midst of the chaos, his breathing stopped, leaving sorrow hanging in the air, along with fear that had not subsided.
Eyewitnesses described the moment in shaky voices. When troops enter residential areas, tensions with residents are inevitable. However, in the midst of this situation, Sabriya, who was unarmed and did not fight back, was actually dragged into a vortex of violence.

“She was just an old lady…didn’t do anything,” said one witness. “We watched him get hit… until finally he no longer moved.”
These words describe more than just an incident, they are a cold portrait of the fragility of life in the midst of an endless conflict.

Until now, the Israeli military has not provided a detailed explanation regarding the incident. This information vacuum actually deepens international public suspicion and anger.
