SUKABUMI MANTRA – The United States is reportedly increasing diplomatic efforts by involving Pakistan to mediate Iran to accept a temporary cessation of armed conflict. This information was revealed by The Financial Times in its latest report.
Based on quoted sources, President Donald Trump has initiated a push for a ceasefire since March 21, 2026.
This policy is motivated by Washington’s strategic interest in normalizing shipping activities in the Strait of Hormuz, which has vital significance for global energy distribution, especially oil and liquefied natural gas.

The report also emphasized that the United States government along with Pakistan views that a diplomatic approach through Islamabad has a higher probability of success.
This is due to Pakistan’s position as a neighboring country to Iran with a Muslim-majority demographic composition and a neutral attitude in the dynamics of regional conflict.
Previously, at the end of February, the United States and Israel carried out military operations against a number of strategic targets in Iranian territory, including the capital Tehran.
The attack resulted in infrastructure damage and civilian casualties. In response, Iran launched retaliatory attacks targeting Israeli territory and United States military installations in the Middle East region.
The escalation of this conflict has a direct impact on disrupting energy distribution activities through the Strait of Hormuz, which functions as the main route for world oil trade. As a consequence, there has been an increase in energy prices in various countries.
On April 7, 2026, President Trump expressed his approval of the proposed two-week ceasefire. He also indicated that Iran was showing readiness to reopen shipping access in the Strait of Hormuz.
