PONTIANAK NEWS – Türkiye seeks to place its defense industry in the top 10 world exporters by 2028 by increasing production of high-tech products more quickly, effectively and massively.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan conveyed this when inaugurating the new facilities of the Turkish defense contractor, Roketsan, in the capital Ankara on Wednesday 8 April 2026.

Erdogan targets Turkey’s defense and aerospace exports to reach US$11 billion by 2028. He stressed that new infrastructure built for air defense systems and missile projects will strengthen the Turkish Armed Forces’ deterrence capabilities.
“With the systems that make up the Steel Dome strike force reaching a higher production tempo, we will further strengthen our air defense architecture,” Erdogan said.
Steel Dome is a layered air defense architecture that integrates radar, missiles, electronic warfare and command systems to protect Turkish airspace from threats at various altitudes and distances.
Erdogan added that Turkey is now a country capable of producing its own platforms, ammunition and defense systems, with domestic human resources.
“Today, Turkey is a country that protects its own airspace, equips its own platforms and develops its own munitions. We do all this with our own human resources,” he said.
