OUR DRIVE-United States Vice President JD Vance stated that high-level negotiations with Iran in Pakistan had achieved “much progress”, although they had not yet produced a final agreement.

Washington emphasized that it remains firm on its main demands, especially regarding the elimination of enriched uranium and a verification mechanism for Tehran’s nuclear program.

In an interview with Fox News, Vance explained that the meeting clarified points of flexibility as well as “red lines” that the US side could not violate.

“We’ve made a lot of progress. This is the first time you’ve seen the Iranian government and the US government meet at such a high level,” Vance said.

Vance outlined two main points that became obstacles and fixed costs for Washington.

First, Iran’s obligation to remove all enriched uranium material from their territory. Second, a firm commitment not to develop nuclear weapons supported by strict verification mechanisms.

“It’s true that Iran says that they themselves will never have nuclear weapons… but of course, you have to verify those things,” he said.

Vance said Iranian negotiators were starting to move closer to the US position, but not far enough.

Currently, both parties have temporarily stopped talks to return to their respective capitals to conduct internal consultations. “The ball is really in their court,” Vance said.

Apart from the nuclear issue, progress in negotiations is also linked to the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as a global energy route.

Vance accused Iran of trying to “change the rules of the game” during the negotiations.

Regarding law enforcement in these waters, Vance emphasized that US intelligence and the US navy closely monitor every ship heading to or originating from Iranian ports.

“If Iran is going to try to engage in economic terrorism, we will adhere to the simple principle that no Iranian ship will be able to get out,” he said, citing the blockade and economic pressure as US bargaining power.

Despite military and economic tensions, Vance stated that the US President remains open to Iran becoming a “normal country” so that its people can prosper.

“But… Iran should be a normal country from the perspective of not pursuing nuclear weapons and not committing terrorism,” Vance said.

He stressed that the success of the deal now depends on the highest authorities in Tehran agreeing to the conditions set by the United States.***
