PAPUAN PEOPLE – Part of the public is busy highlighting the issue of the blockade or re-closure of the viral oil trade route, the Strait of Hormuz.
This happened after Iran previously reopened the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, April 17 2026, after a ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and Lebanon.
During the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, it was reported that more than a dozen commercial ships passed through this vital waterway.
On the other hand, Tehran at that time threatened to close this vital waterway again if the United States (US) blockade of ships heading to its port continued.
Most recently, the Iranian military stated that the Strait of Hormuz would be closed again starting Saturday, April 18 2026.
This was conveyed by Iran’s central military command several hours after the party reopened the viral trade route.
The US is considered to have broken its promises
In a statement broadcast on Iranian state television, the Iranian Military Command assessed that the US had broken its promise by continuing its naval blockade.
Especially regarding ships sailing to and from ports in Iran.
“(Blockade) until the US restores freedom of movement for all ships visiting Iran,” said a statement from the Iranian Military Command as quoted by The Guardian, on Friday, April 19 2026.
“The situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain strictly controlled,” he added.
Reflecting on this, the US blockade of ships heading to Iranian ports emerged as a result of the failure of Iran and the US to reach an agreement in talks in Pakistan.
At that time, US President Donald Trump said there would be no tariffs imposed by Iran on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
This was proposed by Tehran during the previous peace deal plan.
Donald Trump’s ultimatum
Separately, Trump said he planned to maintain the US blockade of Iranian ports.
This happens if a peace agreement with Tehran is not reached.
Trump added that Washington would ‘probably’ not extend the ceasefire once it ends.
Meanwhile, the ceasefire between Tehran and Washington will end on Wednesday, April 22 2026.
“I will not extend it, but the blockade will remain in effect,” Trump said in a statement to media crews in the US, on Saturday, April 18 2026.
Apart from that, Trump talked about the possibility that a peace agreement with Iran would be reached.
“I think it will happen,” he stressed.
