SABACIREBON – Government Iran introduce new mechanisms in the regulation of ship traffic in Strait of Hormuzamid rising tensions with United States of America related to access to this strategic shipping route.

According to reports PressTV on Tuesday (5/5), this new system requires ships wishing to pass through to follow administrative procedures established by the Iranian authorities.

One of them is receiving notifications via the official email connected to Persian Gulf Strait Authority regarding transit provisions.

After receiving this information, ships are required to comply with all applicable regulations before obtaining permission to continue their journey through the strait.

This policy is part of Iran’s steps to tighten supervision over shipping flows in an area that is a vital route for global energy distribution, especially oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

This tightening is also said to be a response to the joint military attack launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28. Since then, Iranian authorities have increased control over maritime activities in the region.
