CIREBON NEWS – The conflict in the Gulf Region triggered by a joint attack by the United States (US) and Israel against Iran has entered its 81st day. The latest news is that US President Donald Trump ordered a postponement of the second volume of attacks on Iran.

Donald Trump argued that the postponement of the latest attack was due to the pressure of a number of allied countries in the Middle East. According to Trump, the path of diplomacy that leads to peace has found a positive side.

However, some military analysts said Trump’s order to postpone the latest attack was because America was concerned about Iran’s threat to cut the fiber optic cable under the Strait of Hormuz.

Donald Trump said he was postponing a planned attack on Iran after requests from the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He added that “serious negotiations are underway” behind the scenes.

The comments suggest renewed diplomatic efforts are underway amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran over the past few weeks.

Trump later praised “very positive developments” in talks with Iran, which convinced him to postpone a planned military strike.

He said allies in the Middle East told him “they are close to a deal” that would leave Iran without nuclear weapons.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian defended Tehran’s participation in the talks while rejecting suggestions that the country was backing down under pressure.

“Dialogue does not mean giving up,” Pezeshkian said, adding that Iran entered negotiations “with dignity, authority, and with safeguarding the rights of the nation”.

Meanwhile Henry Ensher, the former US ambassador to Algeria, said Trump was under increasing pressure not to launch further attacks on Iran because there were “no good military options”.

He told Al Jazeera that a large-scale attack could “incur huge criticism if it fails to change Iran’s behavior”.
