SABACIREBON – President Iran Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that his country was ready to provide confidence to the international community that the nuclear program run by Tehran was not aimed at developing nuclear weapons or creating regional instability.

In a statement quoted by the official news agency IRNA On Sunday, Pezeshkian said Iran had long expressed this commitment and maintained it to this day.

According to him, the Iranian government is ready to prove that the country’s nuclear activities are taking place for peaceful purposes and not for military purposes.

Pezeshkian also touched on the position of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei who previously emphasized a similar stance regarding his country’s nuclear program.

On the other hand, the Iranian President accused Israel as a party that actually exacerbates tensions in the region through geopolitical policies that are considered aggressive.

He assesses that conflict and instability in the Middle East cannot be separated from Israel’s political ambitions, which are said to encourage the expansion of regional influence.

However, Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran remains open to diplomacy, but will not sacrifice national honor and dignity in any international negotiation process.

This statement came after the President Donald Trump said the peace deal with Iran had largely been negotiated and was just waiting for the finalization stage.

The situation in the Middle East region itself continues to be of concern to the world since tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel have increased in recent months.

The conflict escalated after military attacks involving the US and Israel against Iran last February, which Tehran then responded to with attacks on Israeli targets and Washington’s allies in the Gulf region.

These tensions triggered disruptions to global energy trade routes after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.

However, international diplomatic efforts ultimately resulted in a ceasefire which came into effect on April 8 through mediation Pakistan and then extended indefinitely.***
