FIFA is introducing a new tradition at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In addition to the World Cup trophy and gold medals, the tournament champions will also receive championship rings as part of the official awards ceremony.
The announcement was made by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) on Thursday, July 16.
The championship rings will be presented to the winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final, which will be held on Sunday, July 19, at New York New Jersey Stadium, United States. In the championship match, Spain will face Argentina to compete for the world title, as reported by ANTARA on July 17, 2026.
The championship ring is part of a limited-edition collection consisting of 2,026 rings. Each ring is engraved with a unique serial number to commemorate the staging of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
A total of 30 rings have been reserved exclusively for members of the championship-winning team. The remaining 1,996 rings will be marketed globally as officially licensed 2026 FIFA World Cup souvenirs.
In terms of design, one side of each ring features the FIFA World Cup Trophy, while the opposite side will be customized to reflect the identity of the team that wins the tournament.
The introduction of championship rings adds a new dimension to FIFA’s award tradition.
The initiative also brings a distinctive North American touch that has long been associated with major professional sports competitions in the United States.
Across American sports leagues—including basketball, baseball, and football—championship rings are regarded as prestigious symbols awarded to players and team staff to accompany the trophies they have earned.
