Bandung is known as one of the favorite tourist destinations in Indonesia that appeals to both domestic and foreign tourists. To facilitate mobility while traveling, motorcycle rental services have become a popular transportation alternative chosen by many tourists.
Adam, an employee of a motorcycle rental business in the Bandung Station area, said that since the business began operating in 2023, the number of tourists using motorcycle rental services has continued to increase. According to him, customers come not only from the Jabodetabek area, but also from various regions outside Java Island.
“Some tourists are from Jabodetabek. Apart from that, many also come from Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, and Sumatra,” said Adam, Monday, July 27, 2026.
He explained that on average, tourists rent motorcycles for one to two days on weekdays. Meanwhile, on weekends, the rental duration generally reaches two to three days. The offered rates are calculated per 24 hours, with price ranges starting from IDR 75,000 to IDR 150,000, depending on the type of motorcycle selected.
According to Adam, most customers are tourists who have just arrived at Bandung Station. They can pay directly on-site or make a reservation in advance through social media, such as Instagram and TikTok.
“On regular days, income can reach around IDR 1,000,000 to IDR 1,500,000 per day. However, during long holiday seasons or school breaks, income can increase up to IDR 5,000,000 to IDR 6,000,000 in a single day,” he revealed.
Adam also revealed that about 20% of his customers are foreign tourists, mostly from Germany and the Netherlands. In addition, around 10% of tourists from Asia come from Malaysia. These foreign tourists generally rent motorcycles for a longer duration, even up to one week.
“Usually, foreign tourists do not just explore the city center. They more frequently use motorcycles to travel to areas such as Ciwidey, Pangalengan, and other South Bandung areas,” added Adam.
A similar sentiment was expressed by Reza, an employee of another motorcycle rental business in the Bandung Station area. He stated that since the business started operating in 2023, incoming customers have been dominated by domestic tourists from Jakarta, Sumatra, and Kalimantan. In addition, there are also foreign tourists hailing from Malaysia, Germany, Pakistan, Japan, and the United States.
“Local tourists mostly come from Jakarta, Sumatra, and Kalimantan. Meanwhile, foreign tourists come from Malaysia, Germany, Pakistan, Japan, and the United States,” Reza said.
Reza added that rental rates at his workplace range between IDR 90,000 and IDR 175,000 per 24 hours, depending on the type of motorcycle and the rental period.
