BUTOLPOST – British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, is reportedly on the verge of resigning amid increasing political pressure on his government. A number of reports say Starmer could even announce his resignation schedule as early as Monday local time.
Even though he previously repeatedly emphasized that he would not just give up his position and was ready to face any leadership challengers, the political situation in the last 48 hours is said to have changed drastically.
A BBC report quoted by Anadolu stated that a number of senior figures in the government now believe that Starmer will immediately convey a timeline for his resignation after considering various developing political dynamics.
British Business Minister, Peter Kyle, said Starmer would take decisions with the country’s interests first. According to him, the prime minister is currently assessing the challenges facing the government while simultaneously considering developing political realities.
“The decisions taken will be based on the best interests of the country,” said Kyle.
Pressure on Starmer has reportedly increased in recent times, fueling speculation about his future leadership in Downing Street. However, until now there has been no official announcement from the Prime Minister’s office regarding the resignation plan.
