Manchester United have once again been linked with a high-profile signing in the 2026 summer transfer window. This time, the Red Devils are reportedly encouraged by the possibility of signing Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni, who is said to be available if a club meets Los Blancos’ asking price.
Tchouaméni has long been on Manchester United’s radar.
The 26-year-old France international is regarded as an ideal candidate to strengthen the midfield at Old Trafford.
There had previously been reports suggesting that Tchouaméni had agreed to a new contract with Real Madrid.
However, the Spanish giants have yet to make any official announcement regarding an extension of the midfielder’s deal.
According to The Sun, Manchester United have already opened discussions with Real Madrid to explore the possibility of signing Tchouaméni before the transfer window closes.
The report states that Real Madrid are willing to sell the midfielder if a club submits an offer matching their valuation.
The decision is reportedly linked to Madrid’s interest in signing Manchester City midfielder Rodri, who impressed with Spain during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Should Rodri’s transfer materialize, Tchouaméni could become the player sacrificed to make room in Real Madrid’s midfield.
Manchester United’s interest in the former AS Monaco midfielder is also said to have intensified following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
A move to Old Trafford is now considered more realistic than it was several months ago.
Major Summer Signing
Manchester United have already strengthened their midfield this season by signing Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea.
However, the club is still seeking additional reinforcements in the center of the pitch.
Casemiro has left the club as a free agent, while Manuel Ugarte is reportedly expected to miss the entire 2026–27 season because of a serious knee injury.
If Manchester United succeed in securing Tchouaméni’s signature, they would be adding one of the world’s finest defensive midfielders to their squad.
Nevertheless, the deal is expected to come at a substantial cost.
Manchester United are reportedly required to prepare at least £80 million (approximately Rp1.7 trillion) to persuade Real Madrid to part ways with the French international.
In addition to Tchouaméni, Manchester United continue to be linked with two other midfielders: AS Roma’s Manu Koné and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott.
However, no official agreement has yet been reached for any of the three players.***
