Israeli attacks in Beirut and South Lebanon kill residents, target Hezbollah

News Screen – Israeli air strikes again hit the southern suburbs of Beirut and a number of areas in southern Lebanon on Monday, killing civilians as well as paramedics, amid an escalation of conflict with the Hezbollah group.

The Israeli military said the attacks targeted facilities and infrastructure belonging to the Iran-backed Hezbollah. Previously, Israel had also issued an evacuation warning to residents in the area known as the group’s base.

Footage on the ground showed thick smoke rising in the sky over southern Beirut, an area known as a Hezbollah stronghold. Most residents have reportedly left the area after a series of attacks and Israeli military warnings.

Apart from the capital, attacks also occurred in the southern region of Lebanon. The local Health Ministry reported that at least four people were killed as a result of an attack on a vehicle in Kfar Rumman, near Nabatiyeh. Meanwhile, in Burj Rahal village, Tyre district, at least 15 houses were reported to be seriously damaged and no longer habitable.

The day before, an attack in Ain Saadeh, east of Beirut, killed three people, including two women. One of the victims is known to be a local official from the Lebanese Forces Party.
