BUTOLPOST Riyadh – Saudi Arabia’s air defense forces succeeded in thwarting a major attack targeting oil industry facilities in Eastern Province, Monday evening.
The Saudi Defense Ministry stated that as many as seven ballistic missiles fired into the area were successfully intercepted and destroyed before they reached their targets.
“We successfully intercepted seven ballistic missiles heading towards the Eastern Province,” said the Ministry of Defense’s official statement via the X platform, Tuesday.
Even though it was successfully destroyed in the air, missile fragments reportedly fell around the energy facility area. Until now, the authorities are still assessing the potential damage caused.
Not only that, in the last few hours the Saudi air defense system was also reported to be able to repel 18 drone units detected crossing the kingdom’s airspace.
