Tehran Confirms Military Pause
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi immediately confirmed the tentative deal. He stated that Iran’s armed forces would stop their defensive operations as long as the US attacks were also stopped.
“For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible through coordination with the Iranian Armed Forces,” Araghchi said.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council also indicated that the ceasefire could be extended if negotiations on a “10-point proposal” for peace progress smoothly. Follow-up negotiations are scheduled to take place in Islamabad, Pakistan, in the coming weeks.
