FAKE MEDIA – President of the United States Donald Trump and the Iranian government reportedly reached a two-week temporary ceasefire agreement on Tuesday evening, April 7, 2026. This agreement was reached after a last-minute diplomatic intervention mediated by Shehbaz Sharifas reported The Guardian.
The deal also cancels Trump’s previous ultimatum demanding that Iran surrender or face a massive attack on the country’s vital infrastructure. The announcement came less than two hours before the deadline set for launching attacks on power plants and bridges in Iran.
This threat previously drew criticism from legal experts and a number of world leaders because it was considered to have the potential to violate international law, especially regarding the protection of civilian infrastructure in armed conflict.
Negotiations and Conditions for Opening the Strait of Hormuz
In a statement via the platform TruthSocialTrump said the ceasefire was reciprocal and conditional on Iran’s immediate reopening Strait of Hormuz safely.
Trump also stated that during the two-week period, the two sides would begin negotiations based on a 10-point proposal put forward by Tehran to reach a long-term peace deal.
On the Iranian side, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi confirm acceptance of the agreement. He stated that Iran would ensure that shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz could resume operations safely through coordination with the armed forces.
Pakistan’s Mediation Role and Israel’s Involvement
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is said to have played an important role in the mediation process by proposing a two-week pause to provide space for diplomacy.
Apart from that, the report also mentions Israel will also follow the ceasefire. The cessation of hostilities is associated with the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as a vital route for global energy distribution.
