DESCRIPTION – Iran says it has given up and no longer wants to be involved in peace talks with the United States (US). This is in response because the US or US President Dinald Trump is considered to have violated the two-week ceasefire that was agreed on April 8 2026.
Iran accused the US of violating the ceasefire which will end on April 22, 2026. The US was deemed to have violated the agreement after the US Navy fired on and detained an Iranian cargo ship near the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

Iranian state media reported on Sunday 19 April 2026 evening that they currently have no plans to engage in new talks with the US delegation which will return to Islamabad, Pakistan.
Iran accuses the US of violating the fragile ceasefire between the two countries. Iran’s statement came just hours after Donald Trump said he had sent negotiators to Islamabad.
The violations committed by the US make the future of the Strait of Hormuz even more bleak. The attack carried out by the US Navy sparked world unrest and had an impact on increasing world oil prices.
Trump, whose words are tough to hold, announced on Sunday that the Navy had seized an Iranian cargo ship that was trying to pass through a US-imposed blockade near the Strait of Hormuz.
“We have full control of their ship, and are checking what’s inside!” Trump wrote on social media.
Iran Ready to Strike Back
Iran said the cargo ship seized by the US Navy had just sailed from China.
“We warn that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will immediately respond and retaliate against this armed hijacking by the US military,” said Iran’s military spokesman.
The seizure of an Iranian cargo ship makes the future of peace talks regarding the Strait of Hormuz even more fragile and uncertain.

The incident on Sunday night raised the possibility that the ceasefire could fail before negotiators could meet again in Pakistan .
The US previously said it would send a delegation to Pakistan on Monday for a possible next round of talks aimed at ending the US-Israel war on Iran. However, Iran’s statement that they had given up and no longer wanted to be involved in talks with the US, made the continuation of the talks deadlocked. [embicaraanmenjadibuntu
“Iran stated that its absence from the second round of talks was caused by what it called Washington’s excessive demands, unrealistic expectations, constant changes in attitudes, repeated contradictions, and the ongoing naval blockade, which it considered a violation of the ceasefire,” Iran’s official IRNA news agency wrote.
In an interview broadcast on state television on Saturday evening, Iran’s chief negotiator, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, said there would be “no setbacks on the diplomatic front”, while admitting there was still a wide gap between the two sides.
Esmaeil Baghaei, a spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, said that the US blockade of Iran’s ports and coastline had violated the ceasefire and was an “unlawful and criminal” act.
By “deliberately imposing collective punishment on the Iranian population, it amounts to a war crime and a crime against humanity,” Baghaei wrote on social media. ***
