CIREBON NEWS – Towards the end of the ceasefire between the United States (US) and Iran on Wednesday 22 April 2026, the Gulf Region is starting to become restive again. Even the US and Iran have exchanged fire around the Strait of Hormuz.
After the Iranian military expelled Indian and British ships from the Strait of Hormuz, the US Navy opened fire on the Iranian-flagged cargo ship Touska. US Marines then boarded and seized the Iranian ship.
Meanwhile, pro-Iran Iraqi armed groups warned of continuing attacks targeting US military assets and bases, ahead of the end of the ceasefire.

Abu Mahdi al-Ja’afari, Commander of the Iraqi armed group Saraya Awliya al-Dam, stated that his group’s fighters were in full readiness to continue military operations.
In a statement released via the group’s Telegram channel, al-Ja’afari claimed its fighters had carried out more than 200 actions against the occupying presence in Iraq and the region.
He hinted at an increase in the coming days, stating that operations would resume with greater frequency and greater impact.

Elsewhere, US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees military operations in the Middle East, has shared images of US forces intercepting ships linked to Iran yesterday as part of its naval blockade.
Yesterday, the US military said it had fired on and disabled the ship, the Touska, before seizing it.
The legality of Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the US naval blockade have been questioned by international law experts, and Iran has said that it will not consider another round of negotiations with the US until the US ends the blockade.
