CIREBON NEWS – United States (US) President Donald Trump surprisingly announced an extension of the ceasefire. In fact, previously Trump firmly said that there would be no extension of the ceasefire and that if Tehran did not agree, many bombs would explode in Iran.
Meanwhile, Tehran responded that extending the ceasefire was meaningless for Iran. Even the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, suspects that the extension of the ceasefire is a US tactic to carry out a surprise attack.
According to Ghalibaf, America has run out of everything. The extension of the ceasefire was only to restore his military strength. This was an American tactic to buy time before additional aid arrived.

Donald Trump explained that the extension of the ceasefire was because he saw that Iranian leaders were still confused about making a decision. So the US is still waiting for the country to submit a unified proposal.
Trump emphasized that the US continues to maintain a naval blockade of all Iranian ports. The decision came hours before the fragile ceasefire was due to expire, with plans for talks in Islamabad still unclear.
“Based on the fact that the Iranian Government is deeply divided, and this is not surprising, at the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, we were asked to postpone the attack on Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth’s social media.

“Therefore, I have directed our military to continue the blockade and in all other respects, remain ready and capable, and will therefore extend the ceasefire until their proposals are submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or another,” he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, Vice President JD Vance was expected to lead the US delegation in Islamabad, along with Trump envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. According to previous reports, the Iranian team will be led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
However, the New York Times reported that Vance’s trip was postponed after Tehran failed to respond to the US position. Witkoff and Kushner also remain in the US, according to reports.

Iranian officials said there had been no final decision on whether to attend the talks. A two-week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan earlier this month is scheduled to end on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
After the first round of talks in Islamabad failed to produce a breakthrough, Trump resumed a US naval blockade of Iranian ports, a move Tehran called a ceasefire violation.
