WONOSOBO NEWS – French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his objection to the military operation announced by the US aimed at ensuring the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking as he arrived in Yerevan for the European Political Community Summit, Macron said France would not take part in any military initiative without a clear framework, as Caliber.Az reported via French media.

“If the United States is ready to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, that is positive and in line with our goals. However, we will not participate in military operations within an unclear framework,” he said, as reported by Caliber.

Previously, US President Donald Trump announced military operations to secure maritime navigation in the region, amid increasing tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Iranian authorities have warned that they could target US troops if they move closer to the strategic waterway.

Macron also stressed the importance of maintaining stability elsewhere in the region, calling for compliance with the ceasefire in Lebanon after renewed attacks. He urged all parties to avoid further escalation.***
