BUTOLPOST Russia urges the Secretariat of the International Atomic Energy Agency to publicly name the parties responsible for the attacks on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and the city of Energodar.

“We will clearly continue to urge the IAEA leadership to reveal all this publicly. It is very important for the Secretariat to name the parties responsible for the attacks on ZNPP and Energodar,” said Russia’s Permanent Representative to the international organization in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, to RIA Novosti, Sunday (24/5).

Ulyanov believes that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi’s statement regarding the threat to nuclear safety around the Zaporizhzhia NPP is not enough to guarantee the safety of the facility.

According to him, the IAEA leadership should directly name the party responsible for the attack, especially because Ukraine is said to be no longer hiding the impact of its actions.

The Russian diplomat also emphasized that Russian troops had never attacked nuclear power plants, either in areas controlled by Kiev or areas where workers and their families lived.

The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is in a conflict area, has become one of the hot spots since the Russian-Ukrainian war took place, with both parties accusing each other of the attacks around Europe’s largest nuclear facility.***
