PAKU MEDIA, TEL AVIV – Tensions in the Middle East region have heated up again after the Israeli military issued a large-scale evacuation order for parts of Southern Lebanon.
This drastic step was taken ahead of a new military operation aimed at the Hezbollah group.
The Israeli military or IDF designated the area as a combat zone and asked residents to immediately move north of the Zahrani River, about 40 kilometers from the border area.
This instruction is the largest order to evacuate the area since the ceasefire took effect on April 17.
The situation became increasingly tense after Israeli fighter jets immediately attacked the city of Tyre, one of the largest cities in South Lebanon, shortly after the evacuation announcement was made public.

The air attack triggered mass panic and a new wave of evacuations from various affected areas.
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated that this operation was carried out to strengthen the security of Israel’s northern region from the threat of Hezbollah attacks.
“We are strengthening the security zone to protect communities in northern Israel,” Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting.
Israel accuses Hezbollah of continuing to violate the ceasefire agreement through drone attacks and military activities in the border area. Because of this, the Israeli government decided to expand ground operations and increase the intensity of attacks.
On the other hand, Hezbollah accused Israel of being the first party to violate the peace agreement. The group claims its troops were involved in close combat with Israeli soldiers in the Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh area, which is north of the Litani River.
The impact of the evacuation instructions this time is said to be very large. At least 300 cities and villages south of the Zahrani River are directly affected by this policy. Many residents who had previously been displaced are now being forced to look for new places of refuge.
The panic of the residents was clearly visible at various evacuation points. Rida, a 52-year-old cafe owner near Tyre beach, admitted that the atmosphere this time was much scarier than before.

“I went to the port near the coast and there were a lot of people there. People were packing their things. Everyone was scared,” he said by telephone.
A number of local officials and humanitarian workers say that the city of Sidon has now exceeded its capacity to accommodate refugees. Residents were also directed to safer areas such as the Beqaa Valley and the mountainous areas of Lebanon.
The armed conflict between Israel and Hezbollah itself has continued to worsen since it broke out again on March 2. Tensions were sparked after Hezbollah launched a barrage of rockets into Israeli territory in response to an airstrike that killed Iran’s top leader.
Based on data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least 3,213 people have been reported killed since the conflict escalated again.
Meanwhile, Israel stated that 23 soldiers and four civilians were also victims in the same period.
This latest escalation raises international concerns about the potential for a wider war in the Middle East region, especially if the conflict continues to expand involving more armed groups and countries around the borders. ***
