Semarangku.com – Paris, French President, Emmanuel Macron, praised the attitude and commitment of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, in supporting peace in the Middle East and his consistency towards the struggle of the Palestinian people.
Macron conveyed this praise directly in a joint statement after a bilateral meeting with President Prabowo in Paris, France.
“I want to pay tribute to your role, your friendship, and the very brave stand you took last year for peace in the Middle East, including your support for the recognition of Palestine,” said Macron at the Élysée Palace, France, Thursday (28/5).
Macron also assessed that Indonesia and France have the same vision in maintaining regional stability and encouraging peaceful resolution of various international conflicts.
Apart from discussing strengthening the Indonesia-France strategic partnership, Prabowo and Macron also exchanged views on developments in the situation in the Middle East, including conditions in Lebanon and various efforts to maintain global peace.
“I want to honor your commitment, President, the commitment of your armed forces, and our collective determination to continue working for Lebanon’s peace and sovereignty, especially amidst the indiscriminate attacks that continue in South Lebanon and have caused great suffering and millions of refugees,” Macron continued.
Macron’s statement was in the spotlight because it showed open respect for Indonesia’s diplomatic position under President Prabowo’s leadership, especially regarding support for the rights of the Palestinian people and resolving the conflict through peaceful means.
Not only that, Macron also told Prabowo that his figure had always been known and respected by the French people.
“You know that France loves you. The French people showed you that on July 14 almost two years ago, and you will always be welcome in this country,” Macron said.
This meeting in Paris also emphasizes the close relations between Indonesia and France which continue to develop, not only in defense and economic cooperation, but also in humanitarian issues and world peace. **
