After Musk officially withdrew from DOGE in May 2025, changes occurred quickly. Musk began criticizing Trump’s trade policies, then launched a direct attack on the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t take it anymore,” Musk wrote in X. “This massive, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting spasm.”
Conflicting Interests
In essence, this conflict is rooted in interests that are no longer aligned. Musk loses EV subsidies that benefit Tesla. Trump lost once-loyal allies. Both now have their own social media platforms and do not hesitate to use them to attack each other.
A relationship that was once mutually beneficial has now become a feud that is detrimental to both parties, and those most affected are Tesla investors who saw 150 billion US dollars disappear in a day.
