BOGOR RAYA DAILY –The Malaysian government strongly condemns the Israeli regime’s plans to expand its control to cover around 70 percent of the Gaza Strip. Through an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (1/6/2026), this step was described as unlawful, unacceptable and a serious violation of international rules, the UN Charter, as well as various decisions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly.

Malaysia emphasized that the Gaza Strip has long been an inseparable part of the Palestinian territory, long before the establishment of the state of Israel. Any attempt to unilaterally change the boundaries or status of the territory has no valid legal basis, and even risks exacerbating injustice for Palestinians and damaging the already very fragile prospects for peace in the region.

According to the statement, this plan to expand control proves that there is a systematic effort to deprive the Palestinian people of their basic rights, including the right to self-determination and establishing an independent state. Malaysia emphasized that territorial annexation cannot be justified for any reason, and called on the whole world and the UN to reject and firmly oppose the plan.

Malaysia reiterates its full support and solidarity for the Palestinian people, and remains consistent in establishing a sovereign and independent Palestinian State with territorial boundaries as before 1967, and East Jerusalem as its capital.

Previously, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a directive for his troops to expand control in Gaza. According to him, currently Israel controls 60 percent of the area, and the target will be increased to 70 percent, as reported by local media.

The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip itself is still very worrying, where residents still have difficulty getting housing, health services and basic food needs due to the ongoing conflict. ***
