KABARMEGAPOLITAN.com – Commemoration of World Vitiligo Day on June 25: a form of respect for the late Michael Jackson. World Vitiligo Day is celebrated on this date as a tribute to the late pop star musician, Michael Jackson, who battled vitiligo from the early 1980s until his death on June 25, 2009.

The first celebration of World Vitiligo Day was held in 2011, originally referred to as Vitiligo Awareness Day or Purple Vitiligo Fun Day (referring to the initial designation of purple as a supporting color for vitiligo).

The inaugural commemorative main event was held in Lagos, Nigeria, serving as an educational event sponsored by medical professionals, motivational speakers, entertainers, patients, and more.

At the same time, events are also being held in other parts of the world to increase awareness and education.

One of the goals of the World Vitiligo Day campaign is to collect signatures to submit a request for commemoration of the event to the United Nations (UN) and its member states.
