China has openly reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Iran amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. The statement was delivered directly by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
“As a comprehensive strategic partner, China firmly supports Iran in safeguarding its sovereignty, security integrity, and national dignity,” Wang Yi said, according to a statement published on the official website of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
According to Wang Yi, the peace agreement that had been gradually formulated since February and was signed on June 18, 2026, represents a valuable diplomatic achievement that should not be disregarded.
China urged all parties to keep the door open for negotiations and to remain committed to the principles outlined in the memorandum of understanding in order to promote regional stability.
All countries were encouraged to prioritize negotiations and constructive dialogue among neighboring states.
To maintain regional security, Wang Yi said that developments affecting navigation through the Strait of Hormuz should be managed prudently, accompanied by the development of a collective security framework for the Gulf states.
As part of its broader global initiative, China also called for the implementation of the four proposals put forward by President Xi Jinping and expressed its full support for mediation efforts undertaken by Pakistan and other relevant parties.
Iran Accuses the United States of Violating the Peace Agreement
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi outlined the latest developments in the Gulf region.
He accused the United States of violating the agreement that had only recently been signed, triggering renewed tensions.
Araghchi emphasized that Tehran’s position remains unchanged, stating that Iran remains open to negotiations and has no intention of prolonging the current military conflict.
“We appreciate China’s objective stance and its consistent commitment to promoting peace, and we hope Beijing will continue to play a key role in easing political tensions in the region,” Araghchi said.***
