FAKE MEDIA – Mission Artemis II had sparked public attention when the space shuttle Orion experienced a loss of communications (communications blackout) for around 40 minutes while performing a maneuver around the Moon (flyby).

This event occurred when Orion was on the back side of the Moon from Earth’s perspective. At this position, radio signals were unable to penetrate the Moon’s mass, so communications between the crew and the control center in Houston were completely lost.

During this period, the four astronauts were in an isolated condition without real-time voice, data or video communication with Mission Control. However, these conditions have been predicted before and are a natural part of long-distance space missions.

The Crew Continues to Carry Out the Mission

The Artemis II crew consists of Reid Wiseman as commander, Victor Glover as a pilot, as well as two mission specialists, namely Christina Koch And Jeremy Hansen from Canadian Space Agency.

In conditions without communication, the astronauts continued to carry out their duties according to procedures. A number of scientific activities are still being carried out, including observations, taking high-resolution images, and ensuring that all Orion systems function optimally.

One of the important moments in this mission was the crew’s opportunity to directly witness the far side of the Moon (lunar far side), an area that has never been seen from Earth and still holds many scientific mysteries.

Communication Returns to Normal

After Orion emerged from the Moon’s shadow, communication with Earth returned to normal. The team at the control center immediately carried out verification to ensure that all stages of the mission proceeded safely and according to plan.

Party NASA called this blackout phase an important part in testing the system and mental readiness of astronauts to face extreme conditions…
