Mojtaba Khamenei was born in Mashhad on September 8, 1969, and is the second son of Ali Khamenei.
Unlike many prominent Iranian political figures who maintain a public presence, Mojtaba is known for working behind the scenes while reportedly wielding considerable influence within Iran’s political and security establishment.
He grew up in an environment deeply shaped by the political and ideological legacy of the Iranian Revolution.
Mojtaba is married to Zahra Haddad-Adel, the daughter of senior Iranian politician Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel.
During the airstrike that struck the Khamenei family compound in Tehran, Mojtaba was reported to have survived. Several other immediate family members were reportedly killed in the attack.
