OUR DRIVE-US President Donald Trump issued sharp criticism of NATO and the United States’ main allies for not providing support in Washington’s military campaign against Iran.
Trump even dubbed the defense alliance a “paper tiger”.
“NATO is a paper tiger,” said Trump on Tuesday, April 7 2026. He emphasized that the alliance failed to play an active role during the conflict.

Trump accused allies of “trying their best not to help” and refusing to provide crucial logistical support.
“They didn’t even want to give us a landing pad,” he said.
Trump also extended his criticism to strategic partners in the Asia-Pacific, including Japan, South Korea and Australia.
He felt that the United States had carried the burden of the conflict alone without help from countries that had been protected by the US military.
“Japan is not helping us… Australia is not helping us… South Korea is not helping us. We have 50,000 troops in Japan to protect them from North Korea. We have 45,000 troops in South Korea to protect us from Kim Jong Un,” Trump said.
Trump emphasized that the real strength of the alliance lies with the United States.
