Based on a report by the official IRNA news agency on April 6 2026, Iran has submitted its official response to the proposal from the US (United States) through Pakistan as a mediator. However, the answers given were far from the expectations of many parties. Iran firmly rejects the option of a temporary ceasefire and demands a permanent solution that fully meets its strategic interests.
In its statement, Iran emphasized that ending the conflict was not enough with just a 45-day pause. For Tehran, the respite is just an illusion, a delay before a bigger storm arrives. They demanded a total end to the war, accompanied by the fulfillment of a number of crucial conditions.
These demands include major post-war reconstruction, the lifting of international sanctions that have long suppressed Iran’s economy, and the establishment of a regional security mechanism. One of the most vital points is guaranteeing shipping security in the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow channel that is the lifeblood of world energy distribution. Disturbances in this region will not only trigger a regional crisis, but have the potential to paralyze the global economy.
45 Day Proposal Hanging on the Edge of Uncertainty
Previously, there was talk of a 45-day ceasefire between the United States and Iran. However, until now, the proposal is still wavering without certainty. The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has reportedly not yet given final approval.

A White House official said the plan was just one of many options. On the ground, the situation actually got worse. United States military operations in Iranian territory are reportedly still ongoing at high intensity, creating ever-increasing pressure.

According to an Associated Press report, mediators from Egypt, Pakistan and Türkiye have submitted a draft agreement that includes a temporary cessation of the conflict and the reopening of shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz.
