SOREANG JOURNAL – The Ministry of Basic Education through the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) is again strengthening the preparation of the nation’s best talents through Phase II Development of the International Geography Olympiad (iGeo).
This activity is a stage for maturation and selection of prospective Indonesian delegates before competing in the iGeo event which will be held in Istanbul, Türkiye, on 7–11 August 2026.
iGeo itself is an international geography competition held every year for high school students.

Head of the National Achievement Center, Maria Veronica Irene Herdjiono, said that this coaching aims to develop sustainable talents for winners of the National Science Olympiad (OSN), especially the geography branch.
“We want to ensure that students get the best facilities for international events. So they not only excel academically, but are also ready to face the iGeo competition,” said Irene.
The coaching for Phase II of the International Geography Olympiad (iGeo) also provides motivation to the coaching participants. Four students will later be selected to represent Indonesia at the iGeo event.
Meanwhile, for participants who do not qualify, this activity can be a valuable experience to achieve other successes in the future.

One of the participants, Luminaire Tribuana Celmira from SMA Negeri 2 South Tangerang City, felt grateful to have had the opportunity to take part in this coaching.
“I am grateful that I was able to pass Phase I of Development. Phase II of Development was much more busy and tiring because my friends and I immediately practiced in the field,” said Luminaire.
He also hopes that participating in this coaching activity will hone his abilities to become better, especially in the field of geography.
“Thank you to the Ministry of Basic Education and Puspresnas for organizing iGeo coaching. I hope this coaching can hone our knowledge and experience much deeper in the field of geography,” added Luminaire.

The same thing was also expressed by Fremmunizar Syahel Akbar from Banua State High School, South Kalimantan. He said that this activity made him meet many new friends. Syahel was determined to achieve the best results in this event.
“We can increase relations between OSN Geography winners throughout Indonesia. Hopefully Indonesia can win the International Geography Olympiad,” he said.
The participants are medal winners in the National Science Olympiad (OSN) in the geography event. In this coaching, they receive direct assistance from a coaching team consisting of academics and experienced geography practitioners.
For two weeks, participants underwent various agendas, starting from theoretical deepening and tests such as the Written Response Test_ (WRT/written test), _Multimedia Test (MMT/multimedia test), _Fieldwork Test (FWT/field test).

There are 14 students who took part in Phase II iGeo 2026 Development, namely Kaleb Iash Elnathan Naibaho (SMA Labschool Kebayoran, Jakarta), Rafif Adinata Ramadhan (MAN 1 Pekanbaru), Fremmunizar Syahel Akbar (SMA Negeri Banua, South Kalimantan), Ahmad Rabbani Raja Saputra (MAN Insan Scholar Serpong), Nisrina An Naffa (SMA Negeri Unggulan MH Thamrin, Jakarta), and Galang Nusantara Rannuan (SMA Negeri 2 Jombang).
Apart from that, Arkha Enzi Anagi (SMA Labschool Kebayoran, Jakarta), Aviliani Wijaya (SMAS Budi Mulia Jakarta), Said Taftazani (MAN Insan Scholar Pekalongan), Jocelynn Maynard Bratadiharja (SMAS Citra Kasih Jakarta), Griffin Fedilio (SMAS Darma Yudha, Pekanbaru), Luminaire Tribuana Celmira (SMA Negeri 2 Kota Tangerang Selatan), Hamid Amirudin (MAN Insan Batam City Scholar), and Grawira Achmad Suranatadhyaksa (MAN Insan Pekalongan Scholar).***
