PAPUA PORTAL – Indonesia and Germany are committed to increasing cooperation in maintaining global peace and stability. This commitment is important in the midst of increasing international conflicts.
This cooperation emerged when Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier held a bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (15/6/2027).
Indonesia and Germany are committed to continuing to prioritize diplomacy, dialogue and international cooperation as a way to maintain world peace.

“President Steinmeier and I agree that all conflicts must be resolved through negotiations. And we work together in the field of diplomacy to improve and ensure global peace and stability,” said Prabowo.
President Prabowo also believes that Germany has a strategic role in maintaining world balance and encouraging the creation of a peaceful international order. Therefore, Indonesia views partnerships with Germany and the European region as very important.
“The visit of the German President this time is a sign that relations are very important,” he said.
President Steinmeier said that his visit to Indonesia came at a time when the world was facing various complex geopolitical challenges. He assessed that the conflicts that occurred in a number of regions made the partnership between Indonesia and Germany very relevant.

“I visited here again because in a situation where the world is shaken by violence in many regions, the partnership between Germany and Indonesia is very meaningful,” said Steinmeier.
President Steinmeier revealed various ongoing conflicts, ranging from wars in Europe, conflicts in the Middle East, to humanitarian crises in a number of other countries. In this situation, the two countries are considered to have the same views in upholding international law and the principles contained in the United Nations (UN) Charter.
During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed developments in the global security situation, including the dynamics of the Indo-Pacific region which is currently of global concern. President Steinmeier emphasized that Germany views ASEAN as an important pillar in building the regional security architecture.
He also called Indonesia one of the main and most important factors of stability in the Southeast Asia region. Indonesia’s role is increasingly recognized in maintaining regional peace and cooperation.
“Indonesia is an important stability factor in the ASEAN region. And we see that Indonesia is not only confident in that role, but also continues to develop this important role,” said Steinmeier. ***
