LEBAK PORTAL – It is possible that the peace agreement between Iran and the US will include a cessation of conflict in all sectors, as reported by the Tasnim news agency on Sunday 24 May 2026.
Apart from stopping Israeli attacks in Lebanon, the US is also expected to commit to lifting sanctions on Iran’s oil industry during the negotiation process.
If an agreement is reached, the Strait of Hormuz will not completely return to the way it was before the conflict. However, the number of ships allowed to pass through the crucial waterway will return to pre-conflict levels within 30 days, according to the Tasnim report.

Iran, according to the news agency, underscored its sovereign rights over the Strait of Hormuz in various ways, further details of which will be announced at a later date.
On the other hand, Iran has stressed the need for at least some of its frozen assets to be released, and a potential deal would also include a 60-day negotiating window on Tehran’s nuclear program.
Tehran also urged the lifting of the US blockade of Iranian ports, arguing that there would be no change in arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz if the blockade remained binding.

Any changes regarding navigation and transit through the strait would depend on implementation of other US commitments in the memorandum of understanding, according to the report.
US President Donald Trump on Saturday May 23 stated that a deal with Iran to end the conflict “has been largely negotiated” and is now nearing completion.
This progress comes after Pakistan Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir’s visit to Tehran, his second visit in recent weeks.
