Tensions in the strategic shipping lane have continued to increase since Iran tightened supervision in the Strait of Hormuz on February 28. The move was taken after Iran banned ships owned or affiliated with Israel and the United States crossed these waters following a joint US-Israel attack on Iranian territory.
On the other hand, the United States reportedly implemented a naval blockade in the strait area, which hampered ship traffic to and from Iranian ports.
In recent days, the US military is said to have attacked a number of Iranian ships and oil tankers in the region, worsening the regional security situation.
