THE MIND OF THE PEOPLE – Signals of peace are starting to come from Tehran amidst the heated geopolitical situation. The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, stated that his country is fully prepared to end all forms of war and reduce conflict in the Middle East.
It was emphasized that the settlement steps must be taken through diplomacy and negotiation mechanisms, but still stand on a ‘dignified framework’.
Tehran’s Commitment to Diplomacy
Pezeshkian made this crucial statement regarding his foreign policy stance directly during a telephone conversation with the Leader (Emir) of Qatar.
In the interactive dialogue, he underlined that Tehran’s position has never changed and is always consistent in showing good faith towards the deliberation path.
Even so, the success of this peace effort cannot depend on just one party. Pezeshkian also urged allied countries and actors involved in the conflict to show honest political commitment.

He also demanded that all parties comply with and comply with all applicable international agreements and obligations.
Chronology of Tensions
This military escalation involving several major powers was recorded to have started on February 28. The situation worsened after a joint air strike operation was launched by the United States (US) military with Israel targeting Iran’s sovereign territory.
Responding to these offensive actions, the Iranian armed forces carried out massive retaliation. Tehran directed missile and drone attacks at a number of vital Israeli military points as well as several Washington army defense bases spread across the region.
After armed contact and the Middle East conflict continued fiercely for approximately 40 days, a turning point was finally reached.
Through intensive diplomatic efforts mediated by the Pakistani government, the US and Iran ceasefire agreement for two weeks officially came into effect and was mutually adhered to on April 7. ***
