Bulukumba News – In a heavily guarded treatment room in the city of Qom, medical machines hum softly. White lights hung coldly from the ceiling, reflecting the body of a man who was now the center of the world’s attention. He is Mojtaba Khamenei—Iran’s supreme leader who is said to be in critical condition.

Outside the walls of that hospital, the world moves fast. Explosions, political statements and diplomatic pressure continue to hit Iran from various directions, especially from the United States and Israel.

However, what is surprising is that even when the leadership was shaken, the country did not appear to have cracked. There is no sign of collapse. No elite chaos. What exists is resistance.

A critical leader in the midst of war

Mojtaba Khamenei’s condition became the global spotlight after reports from various international media, including The Timessaid he suffered serious injuries as a result of an attack in the conflict that continues to heat up in the Middle East region.

The report, citing a United States intelligence-based diplomatic memo, said Mojtaba was undergoing intensive treatment in Qom. Previously, there were rumors that he was being treated in Moscow, but this was denied by Iranian officials.

In many countries, an economic crisis or military defeat is enough to divide the political elite. But in Iran, the narrative built over decades actually strengthens internal cohesion.

Iran’s political and military elites have a similar perspective: that Western pressure is not just a geopolitical conflict, but an existential threat to their country and ideology.

This narrative not only lives among the elite, but is also implanted in the wider community.

Ideology is the glue

One of the main factors that keeps Iran solid is the ideology inherited from the Ruhollah Khomeini era.

In contrast to other 20th century political ideologies, Khomeinism had a strong religious dimension. He not only talks about power or the state system, but also spiritual beliefs.

For its supporters, the conflict with the West is not just a matter of politics, but part of a struggle believed to have divine legitimacy.
