The United States (US) has launched another military strike against Iran. The attack, carried out on Monday, July 20, 2026, marks a renewed escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
According to a statement from the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), the US conducted a large-scale military operation. More than 50,000 US troops stationed across the Middle East remain on high alert in response to the evolving situation.
“During the eighth consecutive night of US strikes, CENTCOM forces successfully targeted Iran’s coastal surveillance facilities and military air defense systems, maritime capabilities, as well as missile and drone storage sites, as part of ongoing efforts to degrade Iran’s military capabilities,” CENTCOM said.
The strikes targeted Iranian military facilities that the United States said were linked to proxy armed groups. The Pentagon described the operation as a response to an earlier attack that killed US military personnel in Iraq.
“The US has launched a new round of strikes against Iran,” an official report released in Washington stated.
The airstrikes were carried out using F-35 and F-16 fighter jets, targeting weapons depots and command centers.
Iran accused the United States of committing an act of aggression in violation of international law. The government in Tehran vowed to retaliate.
Iranian local media reported casualties resulting from the attacks, although the exact number has not yet been confirmed.
The renewed tensions have pushed global oil prices higher, as investors fear disruptions to energy supplies caused by the conflict.
The US dollar strengthened as a safe-haven asset, while the currencies of emerging markets, including the Indonesian rupiah, came under pressure.
The Indonesian government expressed concern over the escalating conflict and called for peaceful diplomatic efforts to resolve the situation.
“Indonesia calls on all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize dialogue,” an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The latest strikes add to the growing list of confrontations between the United States and Iran in recent years.
Since the beginning of 2026, relations between the two countries have deteriorated further due to disputes over Iran’s nuclear program and Tehran’s support for armed groups.
Analysts believe the conflict could expand further if it is not quickly de-escalated through diplomatic channels.***
