Garut PR- The tensions that have haunted relations between the United States and Iran have entered a new phase. United States President Donald Trump surprisingly announced a two-week temporary ceasefire, a move touted as a strong signal towards long-term peace.
In his official statement quoted by Al Jazeera, Trump expressed high optimism. He emphasized that the two countries had “made great strides” in easing the conflict which had been heating up. In fact, Washington is said to have received a 10-point proposal from Tehran, a document that is considered concrete enough to serve as a basis for further negotiations.

“We see this as a negotiable foundation,” Trump said, revealing that he had agreed to stop all military attacks against Iran for the next two weeks. This decision, according to him, aims to open up space for diplomacy to work.
Furthermore, Trump claimed that almost all the main differences between the two countries had found common ground. He even stated that the United States had “achieved and exceeded all military objectives” in the confrontation, a statement that confirmed Washington’s position in this conflict.

In line with this, a high-ranking American official confirmed that all military operations against Iran had been stopped. From the White House, a spokesperson also confirmed that discussions regarding possible direct negotiations were underway, although no final decision had been made.
American media reports said that the ceasefire would be effective after Iran opened the strategic Strait of Hormuz, the lifeblood of global energy trade. However, implementation in the field is not instant. White House officials acknowledged that conveying cease-fire orders to military units took time.
The spotlight is now on the meeting scheduled to take place in Islamabad, Pakistan, next Friday. The meeting is expected to be the first direct contact between American and Iranian officials since the conflict began, a crucial moment that could potentially determine the course of peace.
