“The world is currently still under the pressure of war and geopolitics which have an impact on the energy market and global energy prices. The impact of course spreads to various sectors, including transportation and aviation,” explained AHY.
Global Energy Sector Pressures
Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are recognized as a major factor in increasing airline operational costs, especially in the aviation fuel component.
AHY explained that fluctuations in world energy commodity prices make the decision-making space very limited and complex for the government.

Even though tariff adjustments are difficult to avoid due to soaring global logistics costs, the government is committed to ensuring that regulations remain within reasonable limits.
“This adjustment does have an impact on society, but it must be done because of increasing world energy prices, including for the aviation sector,” he added.
Joint Policy Formulation
To anticipate greater pressure on people’s purchasing power, the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure will act as a bridge between regulators and aviation operators.

According to AHY, balanced policy formulation can only be achieved through in-depth discussions with the Ministry of Transportation as the regulatory authority, as well as airlines operating domestically.
“This matter is still being discussed, and later I will sit down with the Ministry of Transportation as the regulator, as well as airlines operating in Indonesia,” explained AHY.

The government is optimistic that the geopolitical situation can soon subside so that energy market stability can be restored. On the other hand, domestic policy interventions will be directed at minimizing direct negative impacts on consumers.
“Once again, facing global dynamics like this is not easy. However, hopefully there will be an improvement in the situation and the policies taken will not be too burdensome for society,” he concluded. ***
