LEBAK PORTAL – The suspect involved in the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ dinner on Saturday 25 April 2026 admitted that he had targeted US government officials.
According to reports from law enforcement sources, CBS News said on Sunday that Cole Allen, the suspect, made the disclosure after being arrested.
The source said that the suspect did not directly name Trump as the target, but described in general terms a “government official.”

Until now, the authorities have not been able to confirm the motive of the perpetrator, while the investigation continues.
This incident took place at the Washington Hilton hotel and resulted in the evacuation of Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and a number of other senior officials.
The shooting which occurred when US President Donald Trump attended a dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel took place at the same location as the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan 45 years ago.

On March 29, 1981, John Hinckley Jr. fired six bullets at Reagan outside the hotel. One bullet bounced off the presidential limousine and hit Reagan in the lung, causing him to lose a lot of blood.
Despite being in critical condition, Reagan managed to recover after undergoing surgery at George Washington University Hospital and was allowed to go home after being treated for 12 days.
The place where this shooting occurred has traces of dark history for the US presidency.

Forty-five years later, Trump had to evacuate after gunshots were heard at the hotel.
This incident sparked panic in the building while the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner was still underway, Saturday 25 April evening, local time.
Security officers acted quickly to protect President Trump and remove him from the scene.

Authorities confirmed that the shooting suspect was arrested after officers fired bullets that injured the perpetrator.
