CIREBON NEWS – The United States (US) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) intend to seize the island of Iran. One of the targets is Lavan Island. The UAE attacked the island which resulted in an oil refinery fire.

The Telegraph, citing sources, reported that several US officials were pushing the UAE to seize one of Iran’s islands in the Persian Gulf. This means that the US did not send troops directly to seize Lavan Island.

Lavan Island has long been one of Iran’s main offshore oil export centers, having refinery, storage and tanker loading infrastructure connected to several major crude oil fields. The island also sits on large natural gas reserves.

Some people in US President Donald Trump’s circle have suggested that the UAE take over the island, the media wrote on Saturday.

“Just take it! It will be UAE troops on the ground, not the US,” a former senior Trump security official was quoted as saying by the media.

The reported proposal reflects broader pressure in Washington to reduce direct American military involvement as the war with Iran drags on for three months.

Pentagon officials told Congress this month that the war has cost the US about $29 billion, mostly related to missile spending and air defense operations.

Meanwhile, US defense analysts and military publications have warned that weeks of intensive strikes and operations involving THAAD interceptors, Patriot systems and Tomahawk cruise missiles have significantly reduced America’s stockpile.

The Pentagon has since accelerated efforts to replenish the stockpile with low-cost, mass-produced weapons developed by new defense companies rather than relying solely on traditional military contractors.

The reported push for greater United Arab Emirates involvement also comes amid broader reluctance among US allies to deepen their direct participation in the conflict.

While Washington has pressed its partners for greater military involvement against Iran, including naval operations in the Strait of Hormuz, some European NATO members, such as Germany, Spain and Britain, have publicly distanced themselves from the war.

The UAE has emerged as one of the regional countries closest to Washington and Israel during the war. Tehran accused Abu Dhabi of acting as a “hostile base” for US and Israeli operations, and retaliated against targets in the United Arab Emirates.

Emirati forces have reportedly carried out covert attacks on Iranian targets, including an attack on Lavan Island in April.

Saudi Arabia has also reportedly carried out limited attacks against Iran, but has resisted Emirati efforts to organize a coordinated Gulf military campaign against the Islamic republic.***
