TWICE leader Jihyo has revealed that she and the other members plan to take a break after completing the group’s “THIS IS FOR” world tour.
Her statement immediately sparked speculation that the South Korean girl group will enter a temporary hiatus after maintaining an intense schedule for more than a decade.
According to the 29-year-old singer, she and her fellow members have had very little time to rest since making their debut with TWICE in 2015.
“So, I want to spend the rest of this year relaxing and taking a little time off,” Jihyo said.
However, she emphasized that taking a break does not mean TWICE will end its activities as a group.
Instead, she explained that the hiatus is necessary to allow all members to recover physically and mentally before returning to future group activities.
“So, I hope our fans can understand,” she added.
As of now, JYP Entertainment has not officially announced how long TWICE’s break will last. Consequently, there is no confirmed timeline for the group’s comeback or future activities.
Open to Collaborations During the Hiatus
During the group’s hiatus, Jihyo said she remains open to participating in individual projects, particularly collaborations with other artists.
According to her, collaboration projects usually do not require a long commitment because the songs and concepts are generally prepared in advance.
“For collaboration projects like these, the song is usually already prepared for me. The concept is already there as well, so it’s not too difficult to participate and collaborate with other artists. So, if there’s an opportunity, just reach out to me,” she said.
Jihyo recently released the collaborative track “Distant Lover” with singer Shenseea. She also hinted that she is open to accepting similar collaboration offers during TWICE’s temporary break from group activities.***
