THE MIND OF THE PEOPLE – The United States and Iran are entering a decisive period that could change the geopolitical direction of the Middle East. The two countries now only have 60 days to complete a final agreement regarding the nuclear program, economic sanctions and regional stability.
Even though a peace framework has been agreed, a number of major issues remain unresolved. If negotiations fail, tensions that have so far subsided have the potential to escalate again.

What Must Be Done in 60 Days?
The temporary agreement that has been prepared includes several main points that will be the focus of discussions between the two countries. Among them:
- Iran’s nuclear program, including mechanisms for managing enriched uranium.
- Lifting of US economic sanctions that have restricted Iran’s economic activity for years.
- Security stability in the Middle East region, especially with regard to Lebanon.
- The military commitment of both countries is not to expand the conflict.
While waiting for a final agreement, Iran agreed to maintain the current state of its nuclear program. On the other hand, the United States is also committed to not adding new sanctions or sending additional troops to the region.
There are Rp. 5,300 trillion in funds at stake
This peace not only talks about security, but also Iran’s economic recovery. It is said that the United States together with a number of regional partners will support Iran’s economic development with funding reaching US $ 300 billion or around IDR 5,300 trillion.
The funds are designed to support reconstruction and encourage long-term economic growth. However, all these plans can only proceed if a final agreement is reached.
The threat of failure still looms
In the midst of the negotiation process, the conflict involving Lebanon and tensions with Israel remain the biggest challenges. US President Donald Trump even gave a strong signal that Washington wanted a solution within the specified deadline.
If no agreement is reached, relations between the two countries have the potential to enter a more tense phase again. The next sixty days will be a period that will determine whether peace will truly be realized or whether it will trigger a new round of conflict in the Middle East.

An initial agreement has indeed been reached, but the biggest challenge is just beginning. In the next 60 days, the US and Iran must prove whether the commitments they have built can be translated into a more permanent peace. If negotiations fail, the Middle East risks facing a new wave of tensions again.***
