KABARMEGAPOLITAN.com – World Midwives Day May 5: the importance of the role of midwives for every woman and family. World Midwives Day aims to remind us that a woman’s body is very capable of giving birth. When talking about the history of midwifery, let’s go back to prehistoric times.
These women are the ones who made studies of the birthing process and the important role it plays in preserving the species and its cultural significance.
Although in ancient times their practice was based heavily on experience and superstition, today’s midwives are just as capable and competent in seeing a woman.
This profession is usually referred to as OB/GYN and Obstetrician.
Although there are men who specialize in obstetrics, thousands of years of tradition have made this field of medicine almost exclusively a woman’s art.
In fact, to become a midwife in ancient Greece, a woman had to give birth herself and this was a women-only practice.
This history is what led to the split between Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which occurred in 17th century Europe.

World Midwives Day celebrates these brave men and women and their role in happy homes and healthy births.
World Midwives Day has a different theme every year. Usually, a new theme will be set every year.
