Tourism events in West Java throughout May 2026 successfully generated an estimated economic turnover of IDR 101.8 billion. This also attracted up to 1.7 million visitors.
Based on data from the West Java Tourism and Culture Office (Disparbud), there were 19 events held across 12 regencies/cities, with total visits reaching 1,738,500 people. One of the events that drew the most public attention was the Milangkala Tatar Sunda series of activities, organized by the West Java Provincial Government.
This event recorded the largest number of visitors, with around 1,213,500 people. From an economic perspective, it was also the largest contributor, with an estimated monetary turnover reaching IDR 85.1 billion.
This implies that these various tourism and cultural activities have provided a significant economic impact for the community. During the events, a wide variety of attractions were held, ranging from cultural performances, exhibitions, and music festivals to culinary festivals.
The Head of the West Java Tourism and Culture Office, Iendra Sofyan, stated that this achievement demonstrates that organizing events serves not only as a means of cultural preservation and public entertainment but is also capable of driving the regional economy.
“Events have proven to be an effective instrument for increasing tourist visits while simultaneously driving the community’s economy. The impact is directly felt by MSMEs, the creative economy sector, artists, and the workforce involved in organizing the activities,” he said yesterday.
He also committed to continuously encouraging the organization of high-quality events in various regions so that the economic and social benefits can expand. The goal is to make them increasingly attractive and provide a sustainable impact for the community.
In addition to Milangkala Tatar Sunda, the next highest number of visitors was recorded by the 66th Fisherman’s Day Festival and Cultural Show in Sukabumi Regency, which was attended by more than 10,000 people. The next position was occupied by Bragaversary, with the number of visitors reaching 8,750 people.
Meanwhile, in terms of economic turnover, following Milangkala Tatar Sunda, the next position was held by the Indobuild Tech Expo with an economic transaction value of IDR 2.45 billion, followed by Tau Tau Fest at IDR 2.40 billion.
Data from Disparbud West Java also showed that throughout May 2026, as many as 2,862 MSME and creative economy actors participated in these various events. Furthermore, there were 11,529 cultural artists and 6,582 workers involved in organizing the activities.
