JURNALACEH.COM – The international world was shocked by the sudden announcement from the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran. This decision sparked a strong reaction from its closest ally, Israel, which admitted that it had not received in-depth information beforehand.

​This agreement ends the escalation of the armed conflict that has been going on since February 28 2026. The ceasefire decision was officially announced on Wednesday April 8 2026 local time.

​Until this report was published, the Israeli government had not provided an official statement publicly. However, a senior Israeli official who declined to be named stated that this development was a “complete surprise”.

​Just hours before the announcement, Trump was still issuing harsh ultimatums and military threats to Tehran. The US reportedly gave a very sudden notification, indicating a communication gap with Israel.

US attacks on strategic targets such as Kharg Island in Iran had to be stopped amidst the momentum of Israeli air attacks which were still massive.

​This ceasefire is not without conditions. Based on Al Jazeera’s report, there was a crucial exchange of interests between Washington and Tehran in which the US agreed to postpone all military operations against Iran for the next 14 days and Iran committed to reopening the Strait of Hormuz shipping lane which was previously blockaded….
